Ribbons during Lent 2027
Volume II, a Psalter that waits until the First Sunday to start again, and the first days of the Second Edition.
Lent 2027 begins on Ash Wednesday, February 10, 2027. Put Volume III away and open Volume II (Lent and Easter). The Psalter stays on Week IV from Ash Wednesday to Saturday, and starts again at Week I on the First Sunday of Lent, February 14, 2027.
Lent runs from Ash Wednesday until the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, March 25, 2027, when the Sacred Paschal Triduum begins. Easter Sunday is March 28, 2027.
Lent 2027 is the first season of the Second Edition. Ash Wednesday, 10 February 2027, is the first day the Second Edition may be used, and Volume II (Lent and Easter) is the first volume published, in January 2027. If you have it, this is the day to open it, set seven or eight ribbons, and switch the daily guide to match. Your first edition Volume II remains lawful too, until 3 December 2028. Setting the ribbons on Ash Wednesday
- Volume. Volume II carries all of Lent, the Triduum and Easter, to Pentecost.
- Psalter. Week IV, Wednesday. Ash Wednesday does not reset the cycle; the First Sunday of Lent does.
- Proper of Seasons. Ash Wednesday, at the front of Volume II. Every day of Lent has its own proper, so this ribbon moves daily.
- Proper of Saints. Set to the calendar date. On the weekdays of Lent an obligatory memorial is kept only as a commemoration.
- Night Prayer. Unchanged: the one-week cycle carries on as always.
